Course overview
Structural equation modeling (SEM) is an advanced statistical method that serves a critical role in developing knowledge for the counseling profession. It allows counseling researchers to validate theoretical constructs and models or confirm the factor structure of a newly developed instrument. Accordingly, the number of published articles utilizing SEM methods has increased over the past 25 years. The goal of this webinar is to provide attendees with an introduction to the basics of SEM research, including the limitations of this method. They will also learn a five-step process for conducting SEM research (Crockett, 2012). The presentation will utilize concrete examples from the presenter’s own research to highlight key concepts and the basic steps of SEM analysis.
